I launched my Gumroad shop in October 2023 using my old and laggy laptop.

Seeing known creators who make $15-$25 from Notion templates shaped my perspective about digital products.

They inspired me.

I wanted to be like them.

But in the first few months, I earned NOTHING.

I’ve launched 3 FREE Notion dashboards and hoped for donations.

SILLY ME! 😭

But one day, in a cold late December, my Goals Tracker received a $10 donation from a lovely internet stranger… after months on hiatus.

Ever since that day, a rush of motivation passed through my veins until…

✨ I launched my very first paid Notion template which took me days to make from scratch ✨

After marketing it on Facebook Notion groups, my eyes widened seeing my first $5 sales notification.

I earned $75 around that month—it was a cold early January in 2024.

It may not be THAT big but for me, it was proof that you can make money from digital products.

Ever since that moment…

I LOCKED IN.

I spent days creating Notion templates and mockups from scratch, including trial and error in navigating the software itself.

Imagine earning from your creativity in the comfort of your home?!

As of 2026, all within 3 years:

• I made 40k downloads from my free and paid templates on Gumroad.
• I’ve grown my socialmediaaccounts to a total of 20k+ organic followers!
• I started getting commissions from international and local clients across the internet.
• My business started paying my monthly bills in 2024.
• I’ve collaborated with Canva for a UGC AD, became a Canvassador and they gave me a merch box with a Kodak PixPro FZ55 in 2025!

Who would have thought that these were all possible for a starter brand to achieve, right?!

Here’s how to make your first $1 on Gumroad:

1. Open a Gumroad Shop

Of course.

This is the first step.

Are you a new seller? Go to gumroad.com and sign up with a new account.

As for existing shop owners, you can log in to your account and access your dashboard.

For new sellers, here’s what you need:

• Verified email
• PayPal
• Bank account

Also, prepare your business logo, shop bio, list products with a maximum of 7 mockup photos, add descriptions and add 10 tags.

The best thing about Gumroad? 

Product listings are free and it takes $0 to open a shop.

✨ Yes, you can launch as many products as possible without paying for anything! ✨

They only take the transaction fees and taxes when someone purchases from your shop, which is a win-win situation for both parties.

Here’s how to receive payments:

• When someone buys via PayPal, the payment instantly goes to your PayPal account.
• If a buyer purchases using a card, the amount goes to your bank account in 3-5 business days, once you reach the $100 threshold.

It used to be a $10 threshold but starting in 2026, they changed the payout requirement.

At first, I’d admit I was worried about the changes.

But luckily, I recently started getting more sales because of my viral TikTok videos, which made it possible for me to get 2 payouts in a month.

The best strategy for this?

Promote your products on different social media platforms to bring potential customers to your shop.

If they buy or donate something from your store, I believe it usually means:

• Your products solve their problems.
• Your promotion is working!

…depending on your niche!

By doing this, people discover your brand and try your products. 

If they like your items, there’s a higher chance they become a customer who’d buy more things from you.

At the same time, they also become part of your email list.

Here’s a simple analogy:

No traffic = No potential sales

A mistake that new sellers make is opening a shop and expecting sales without promotion.

I was like that in the beginning, too.

3. The Email Marketing Strategy

In the span of 3 years, I grew my email list from 0 to 14k+ because of my freebies.

• Promote your newly launched or existing products

• You finally get a sale!
• A buyer gives you a 5-star rating on Gumroad
• Or nothing at all
